Teaching Experiences:

As an early childhood and primary teacher, I have had immeasurable experiences with parents, teachers and students. Working with children from birth to twelve years of age has been much like a rollercoaster ride, some days were extremely high, and others were extremely low. Both positive and negative experiences have furthered my practical and theoretical understandings, which fortunately provides a powerful stepping-stone to infiltrate into the teaching profession.

Some experiences from professional practicums in  early childhood and primary settings include:

  • Working with concrete materials, ICT, and a range of other resources

  • Developing programs for stage 1, English and Mathematics

  • Teaching students as a whole class, in small groups, and individually

  • Contributing to after-school staff development days

  • Working collaboratively with parents and teachers

  • Voluntary work as a reading support assistant

  • Voluntary work at a Disability school

  • Creating ILP and IEP plans

  • Familiarised with various legislations, policies and curriculum document

  • Engaging in OHS practices, protective behaviour workshops, electoral professional development program and anaphylaxis training

The following pictures were taken during my practical experience with children aged 4-5 in a centre in Canberra. With this particular group of children, we explored the concepts of food by developing meals with dough, investigated shapes by building a robot with a range of materials, and we also created pom poms to build on students interests of cheerleading.
